Dear conqueror in Christ:

I am taking this excellent opportunity to remind you to take time for God. This clarion call is made by Moses in the ninetieth psalm where he places time at the center of life. Moses shows God as the timeless, immutable and eternal being who exists “from everlasting to everlasting” (Psalm 90:3). To the contrary, man is the transient, fragile, frail and futile being for whom the “length of days is seventy years, or eighty, if we have the strength” (Psalm 90:10 ). Yet the few days of our lives are filled with trouble and sorrow. In light of the weakness of our human condition, Moses called upon us to take time to find help in God. For too many of us get caught in the hustle and bustle of this life leaving us little time or no time to nurture our spiritual life.

Moses wants us to make prayer our priority in managing the days of our lives. Let’s take time to pray for wisdom: “Teach us to number our days aright, that we may gain a heart of wisdom” (Psalm 90:12 ). In the face of life’s difficulties and the inevitability of death, God still desires us to enjoy purposeful living. Call on him for well-being “Satisfy us in the morning with your unfailing love that we may sing for joy and be glad all our days” (Psalm 90:14). Enjoy life, for people who enjoy life tend to live longer. Finally let us make time to find through prayer God’s favor for this journey. “May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us;” (Psalms 90:17). By grace, we are ultimately bound to transcend time and join God in eternity.
