Dear conqueror in Christ:
I am much enthused to remind you that Jesus is your deliverer. The apostle Peter, who knew the Lord so well as being one of the first of his disciples, introduces him to us as such when he states that “God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and power, and how he went around doing good and healing all who were under the power of the devil, because God was with him.” (Acts 10:38). As human beings, we face daily forces that are hostile to our well-being. They are our enemies that often fill us with fears. Among them are these three namely disease, the devil and death. Let’s see how Jesus delivers from them all.
The ninth chapter of the Gospel of Matthew highlights the mighty power of Jesus over all hostile forces in this world. He manifested himself as the great Physician who alone can cure every sickness and every disease. For example, he healed a paralytic, two blind men and a woman who had been subject to bleeding for twelve years (Mt 9:20). Secondly, Jesus delivered a demon-possessed man who could not talk. It is recorded that “when the demon was driven out, the man who had been dumb spoke” (Mt. 9:23). Finally Jesus used his power over death. He raised to life the daughter of Jarius who was dead for “he took the girl by the hand and she got up” (Mt. 9:25). Let us cast all our cares on the Lord, for he surely is our deliverer.
