Dear conqueror in Christ:
Great is my joy to extend to you this clarion call to restore your courage in the Lord. Courage is the strength, determination of the soul to face obstacles and danger. When absent, discouragement settles in weakening the soul and its purpose. Now you have to realize that even a very stouthearted person can yield to discouragement. Elijah is a perfect example of a most courageous, brave, heroic soldier of the Lord who reached a point in his life when he lost his courage. Engaged in a conflict with king Ahab and his wife Jezabel, Elijah gave up. He was afraid and ran for his life. In Beersheba in Judah, he “came to a broom bush, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. “I have had enough, Lord,” he said. “Take my life; I am no better than my ancestors.”” (1 Kings 19:3-4). Blessedly God cares for his own, Let’s see how he rescued Elijah.
God restored Elijah’s courage by providing him with rest, food and water. First. Elijah rested when he laid down under the bush and fell asleep. In your restoration process, count on Jesus for rest: “Take my yoke upon you … you will find rest for your soul” (Mt 11: 29-30). God also sent an angel with food and water for his physical body. “All at once an angel touched him and said, “Get up and eat.” He looked around, and there by his head was some bread baked over hot coals, and a jar of water. He ate and drank and then lay down again.” (1 Kings 19:5-6). Your restoration will not be complete without spiritual food and beverage. Thereto count on Jesus. For spiritual food, he said: “I am the bread of life” (John 6:35). And “rivers of living waters will flow from his heart” (John 7:38) Renew your courage to continue victoriously this life journey.
