Dear conqueror in Christ:
It is an immense privilege to remind you of the power available to you when you become connected with Jesus. The popular catchphrase: “It’s who you know, not what you know,” rings true here. Indeed this slogan becomes reality when it comes to gaining professional training and opportunities. Making connection is so important that parents strive to send their children to Ivy League Schools. Consider a situation in which two undergraduates are hoping to get the last spot in a specific graduate school program. The first person has better grades than the second, but the second is best friend with the dean of admission’s son. Who do you think will get that last spot? Connection is also important at the spiritual level. Let’s see how it works so powerfully with Peter and John.
After the outpouring of the Holy Spirit, Peter and John became empowered: “When they saw the courage of Peter and John and realized that they were unschooled, ordinary men, they were astonished and they took note that these men had been with Jesus.” (Acts 4:13). Peter and John were uneducated fishermen. They became empowered with courage by the Holy Spirit. It is definitely their connection with JESUS that made the difference for them. Through the connection with Jesus, they emerged also as a conquerors. They became well equipped with the mental and moral strength to face this first wave of persecution against the church. The apostle Paul put it this way “…in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37). Become then empowered through the Jesus’ connection with courage and the confidence to live as an overcomer.
