Let’s consider the powerful example offered to us by Jehoshaphat, a godly king in the Old Testament. Unexpectedly a coalition of three armies from Moab, Ammon and Mount Seir came to war against him. With confidence, Jehoshaphat “resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah.“ (2 Chro 20:3). In response to prayer, the Lord built up his assurance through his prophet Jehaziel saying “Listen, King Jehoshaphat and all who live in Judah and Jerusalem … ‘Do not be afraid or discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s.“ (2 Chro 20:15). Standing on God’s word, Jehoshaphat persevered with the weapon of praise and won a great victory for “The enemies self-destroyed as “Ammonites and Moabites rose up against the men from Mount Seir to destroy and annihilate them. After they finished slaughtering the men from Mount Seir, they helped to destroy one another.“ (2 Chro. 20:23). Like Jehoshaphat conquer with confidence in God, assurance and perseverance in your time of trouble.
